that quote makes me think of a quote i always liked from richard nixon. i like to think he said this after his colossal mess up with watergate: "only if you have been in the deepest valley, can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain."

random sidenote - have you seen the movie about watergate with kirsten dunst (it's called dick). it's one of my all time favorite!!!! watch it one night when you're in your hotel in arkansas!

Do you know Brandon Matthews and his family, too? I went to church one Sunday in Michigan and showed up kinda late... the guy at the pulpit was basically bearing his testimony about Mt. Rainier (basically) and after awhile, the light bulb went off in my head and I turned to the stranger next to me like Will Ferrell's Elf. "I KNOW him, i KNOWWW him!" It was Brandon's dad! I ended up hanging out with them for dinner and at church a few times after that during that project.

So good to hear from you. I'll tell Mike you said hi. Adding your blog to google reader, too! Is there anybody else from FW that you keep in touch with?

Hey Rachel-
I saw your post on Rachel Meynder's blog...since I know her and we're friends from Oregon days...and realized when clicking over to your blog that I know this Rachel too! It was fun to see what your crazy days are like and "catch up" for a moment. (I assume the adorable kids are Mike and Wendi's, so you'll have to tell Mike hi for me too!) Wish I lived by Chad and Rachel...or Seattle for that matter so we could catch up someday, but I am happy to hear you love your job and are doing well! And so fun that you know the Meynder's too as we love and miss them too...glad you get to hang out with cool people on your travels. Now I might just have to keep your blog on tabs so I can check in every once in a while.
